The consequences for Iphone 3G Jailbreak.

Pros: The iPhone is a great phone for basically anyone it has 3g speeds, wifi, edge, 2.0 megapixel camera, shortcuts to applications, gps, games(not included but u can get them from itunes from free to 12.99) an accelorater which is used to respond when you move it for example. when u are calling someone the screen goes blank and when u want to end a call, when u look at it the screen will pop back up and u can end the call and when u use motion games such as labyrnith you can tilt the board to move the ball) i personally think without a doubt in my mind that the iphone is worth buying for only buisness people UNLESS YOU JAILBREAK IT. jailbreaking means that you can add native applications (people who make home made applications) which is really usefull because it has the things that the iphone didnt come with such as video recording, video streaming, you can customize every aspect of the phone to the background to the icons to the sounds it makes when you open and close it to game emulators. the possibilites are endless other than that if you dont wish to jail breaki ti then u have basically the functions that are listed on lines 1-4. if i were to tell you all the things jailbreaking can do, you would probably die for an iphone just to hack it. if you have any questions about anything or unclear just email me and i can answer any questions.
YES ITS WORTH IT IF U MESS UP U CAN TRY AGAIN
Cons: Is not as fast as advertised but faster than any phone then i know. (maybe except the Nokia N95 but thats a whole other topic......)

Can you download cydia for the new iphone 3g without jailbreaking it?
If apple doesnt have it in itunes, then the only way to use it would be if its jailbroken. The iphone is not a true smartphone, so you cannot just install apps that you find online, unless its jailbroken.

Can I still update my iPhone 3G after unlocking it?

I am planning to unlock my iPhone 3G 16 GB. I plan to unlock and jailbreak it, so that I can install cracked apps. But my doubt is, Can I still be able to update my iPhone 3G through iTunes, after this process?
How are you going to unlock it when no software unlocking solution has been made/found yet? (WinPwn/Pwnage Tool does not unlock iPhone 3Gs).
Usually if you update a jailbroken/unlocked iPhone, 3G or not, through iTunes it will loose the jailbreak & will be locked again. Then you would have to redo the process with WinPwn (Windows) or PwnageTool (Mac), but will still have the update if done correctly.
How do you view iphone 3g hardrive on comp?
When i click "My computer" only apple iphone pictures show up and not the hardrive itself. I have the latest itunes and updates for my phone, but it's not recognizing the hardrive.
What can i do to make my computer recognize the iphone 3g hardrive?
I know you can because i did it on my other computer simply by plugging it in, but this one doesn't work.

the iphone is not enabled for disk usage yet. so i don't know how you did it on you other computer. because it isn't possible until apple decides to enable the iphone for disk usage. the ipod touches just started being able to be hard drive in like may... so maybe you will be able to do it soon.

Whats the difference between the regular Apple iPhone and the new iPhone 3g?

The key differences between the original iPhone and the newer 3G model are:

1. The inclusion of a 3G radio which allows data to be transferred at about 200-300% faster rates (roughly, assuming good signal quality), compared the to the EDGE radio in the original iPhone.
2. They changed the case. The design is more of a wedge shape versus the rounded shape of the original iPhone. According to most people, this makes the new 3G iPhone more comfortable to hold in the hand. The original had a brushed aluminium backplate, and the new one has more of a hard plastic back. Also they added a new color choice to the phone: white.

3. They added a GPS - so Google maps now has a real-time updating GPS versus the previous system which relied on something like trangulation of cell phone towers to determine location but which only gave a relative idea.

4. They improved the battery life - the battery lasts about 2 hours longer for calls.

5. They unrecessed the headphone jack on the new iPhone - the original iPhone had a recessed jack that made it hard to plug in a lot of headphones.

6. They changed the screen color from a vaguely bluish tinge to more of a yellowish tinge. It's not easily noticed but some people prefer the original over the newer one.

7. They improved the microphone quality and the speaker quality to make it easier to listen to music without headphones and it makes calls clearer.

8. They changed the method of signing up for a contract - you used to be able to wander in and buy one... with cash originally without having to sign a contract. You just walked in and bought it and walked out and then figured out the contract when you plugged it into a computer at home.

9. They changed the price. It appears that they lowered the price by lowering it from $399 to $199 (for the 8GB model), but they raised the monthly fee by $10 - which adds $240 over the two year mandatory contract period... so it costs $40 more (over 2 years) than the original one.

They will likely continue to come out with a new model every summer. This would be similar to what Apple does with other products like iPods, so it's a fairly safe guess that next summer around June/July 2009, there will be a newer version of the iPhone.

The major differences is the price, the built in GPS, the speed, The apps, and the Microsoft Exchange feature. The price will be cut all because people said they didn't have an iPohne because of the price, so Apple wants everyone to have one and be able to afford it. The GPS will be a cool feature, which is like a plug-in for Maps. You will now be able to drive to places and knowing exactly where you're at. The speed will change about 2.8 times faster than the older iPhone because of the change from EDGE to 3G. 3G is a much faster network. The new iPhone 3G will come already with an app store where you can buy or get for free, depending on the developer, different types of apps like games, utilities, etc. They are quite different from the old web-based apps, which don't take full advantage of the app features. Microsoft exchange is there so you can sync calendar, contacts, and email from a PC. The original iPhone will have the App Store as a free upgrade only. If your looking for faster internet in your pocket and built in GPS get the iPhone 3G, otherwise you're good with the original iPhone.

Will the iPhone 3G be difficult to get during the first week?

I really want to get the iPhone 3G this weekend but wonder what my chances of getting one are. Do you think there will be crazy long lines & waits at the stores? Or do you think the demand isn't that great this time around? Should I wait a month or so or just go ahead and get it?
Yes, I'm one of those girls who wait in line the day a shiny new gadget goes on sale, and the iPhone 3G is one of the shiniest gadgets of all. But while I'll be out there waiting in the wee hours of July 11 (it's my job, after all), the rest of you should think twice before losing sleep on launch day. Here's why.

1. Shortages are unlikely
Remember last year, when we all got in line early for the iPhone because we were afraid it would sell out? Well, that didn't quite happen. Yes, individual AT&T stores sold out quickly, but many Apple stores had plenty of iPhones in stock in the days and weeks after the big day. (Indeed, there weren’t any serious iPhone 1.0 shortages until just recently.) Also, word of hundreds of massive overseas shipments bound for Apple (which began arriving as early as March) leads me to believe that there's a healthy supply of iPhone 3Gs on hand. So if you're worrying about a Wii-like shortage of the iPhone 3G, well ... I wouldn't.

2. Chaos on Day One
Unlike last year, customers won't be able to activate their new iPhones over iTunes—instead, clerks will have to activate them in the store, contracts will have to be signed on the spot, and new AT&T subscribers will have to undergo credit checks. It could take a good 10-15 minutes per customer—and that's if things go smoothly. It'll be a new process for everyone—especially for Apple Store employees, who aren't accustomed to processing cell phone contracts—so I'm anticipating (dreading, actually) a train wreck next Friday. Even if you're dying to lay hands on the iPhone 3G, you might want to wait a week or so until they get the kinks worked out.

3. 32GB iPhone 3G on the horizon
I was keenly disappointed when Steve Jobs didn't unveil a 32GB iPhone last month—indeed, all we got were 8GB and 16GB versions, and I'd personally like an iPhone that I could cram with as much music and video as I can stand. Here's the thing, though—a 32GB iPhone 3G is probably coming within the next six months, if not sooner (well, that's my guess). If I wasn't buying the 16GB iPhone 3G for Yahoo! Tech, I'd probably sit tight and wait for the 32GB version to arrive.

4. Best new iPhone features are coming to the original iPhone
Yes, the iPhone 3G will be getting GPS and, of course, 3G—but for now, you can't download music tracks over AT&T's 3G network or access AT&T's streaming video service. For me, the most exciting thing about the new iPhone is the upcoming App Store, which will be stocked with scores of 3D games, chat clients, productivity apps, RSS readers, you name it—and the App Store will be available July 11 as a free upgrade to the old iPhone. That'll keep you busy till the 32GB iPhone comes out.

5. The HTC Touch Diamond
I've seen the future of cell phones, folks, and it's called the HTC Touch Diamond. With its gorgeous VGA screen, beautiful touch-screen interface, and compact, light-weight shell, the Diamond is the first phone to make me green-eyed with envy since … well, since the original iPhone. The Diamond is set to arrive in the U.S. in September, and spy shots of a Sprint-branded Touch Diamond are already circulating on the Web. You might want to give the Diamond a serious look before committing to a new two-year iPhone contract.

What phone companies offer android phones?

I was wondering if its possible to get an android phone from bell since thats who Im with for a service provider and I am on a contract nor am I allowed to get a different phone.
It will be T-Mobile exclusively offering the HTC G1 as of right now. It is believed that T-Mobile will offer unlock codes to customers of 90 days or more if asked. So for that reason you will see unlocked phones for sale. It's doubtful that T-Mobile or HTC will offer this phone to buy direct and already unlocked for quite a while. Check ebay if you don't want to go with T-Mobile. You might also find unlock codes out there eventually once hackers get ahold of the phone. It didn't take long before the iPhone was cracked, I'm sure the android phone will be easier.
There are also android phones being developed by Samsung and possibly other companies. No news as to when these will be released or who will carry them. I expect the HTC G1 model will be the only one for quite a while.

What do you think of the Google Android phone?
When does it come out? Is it's browser as large as the Iphone. Does it have as many funcitons as the smart phones? Does anyone know much about it?

al-righty my name is charles raitan im a phone hacker and legally add software to them the android phone sucks it comes out september 23 the browser is not as the iphone great because apple made it and anything apple makes is better than windows its on t-moble so if your getting the iphone no need to switch to att if your at tmoble just switch the sim cards there is no hacking involved but you do get your 3g iphone on tmoble but only get the iphone on the 23d cuz thatz when tmoble gtz 3g speed to you could still have the speed this prcces dose not kill your worrenty because theres no modifying involved.

What phones should i get, the google phone, the iphone 3g, or the sprint instinct?

With no other electronics added, for example, get a google phone, and then get a ipod touch for more music. jbogs87 was the worst answer i have ever gottan. That was terrible. Go at&t!!!

I would say you should get the iPhone 3G. It's the best web browsing phone, video quality is awesome. It has a lot of features. AT&T has signal in lots of places. I have an iPhone 3G and there is never dropped calls.
If you are going to purchase an iPhone, just purchase the original. The iPhone 3G's service and quality are both poor, and the cell phone has a tendency to crash quite a bit. Android is an excellent software platform and operating system, and provides its user with efficient cell phone navigation. The instinct is not anything special, and does not compare with Verizon's new touchscreen cell phones. Go with AT&T's G1 cell phone ("the google phone").
Also, studies and research has shown that Verizon has more coverage in any area of the country. Do not listen to the AT&T representative. He will obviously encourage you to purchase the iPhone 3G. Listen to somebody who is attempting to help you, not his or her self. I am the only responder who actually possesses all three of these cell phones. The others would not know which cell phone is best, as they do not acquire all three of these cell phones. The iPhone 3G. It comes in 8 or 16GB. Plenty of space to hold all of your music, pictures, and videos. It's fully capable of browsing the internet and checking your email. It's a phone, and a 2.0 megapixel camera, which is a lot better than it sounds. The 8 GB only comes in black, where as the 16 GB comes in black or white. Great phone though overall.
A phone is good with the network its on, the iPhone is a good phone..and sprint has bad coverage so its not gonna be a good experience..AT&T has the best coverage with the fastest 3g network so the iPhone will be the better bet.AT&T wireless asstiant manager.

the iphone has alot of "loyal" customers , and they say it will not be defeated . right now the iphone has the top consumer % , but the G1 well get more coders since they dont need a mac to do applications for the google android open source software that the G1 has. i personally have an iphone i like it but some apps u need to buy -_- , while i think the apps for the G1 will be free =D. this is what i think.

Google phone, iphone, or blackberry storm,Which one is better?

So i cant tell whether to get the android google phone, blackberry storm or iphone. does anyone know what is better for internet, texting, signal and other specs. please let me know.

g1 for texting-a full touchscreen blows for texting because you do not know if you pressed the button. you have to pay full attention to what youre doing.

g1 for internet-it has wifi like the iphone, but google, unlike apple, will allow you to install a better third party internet browser. nearly every third party internet browser supports flash. the iphone and storm never will have a third party browser.

signal is subjective to your coverage area. The iphone 3g has 4 class action lawsuits in 4 countries over the dropped calls. the storm will be on a cdma network which is smaller then the gsm network in the US.

spec wise, the g1 has the most features.
the iphone doesnt support;
java, mms voice dialing, third party software installation (the g1 does)the storm doesnt support wifi (the g1 does)
however, the g1 doesnt have a 3.5mm headphone jack. it has a proprietary usb jack.

Well first off monthly wise the blackberry will be the most followed by the iphone. The google phone is cheeper monthly cause tmobile is by far cheeper. The google phone will do as much as the phone, if not more. The google phone also is not all touch it has a trackball and a slide out quetry keyboard.Google Phone all the way.

They are both good in their own respect and caters to different crowds. The iphone are for those that are, of course, loyal to apple as well as those that want it as a "status symbol". It does have alot of bells and whistles that make it a great phone. The G1, on the other hand, is basically a "geek" phone. Those that want a phone to do everything from making a basic phone call to controlling your electronic devices to finding out where you parked your car, then the google phone is for you. I personally have the google phone and have enjoyed it since I have received it. The 3G converage is great in my area (Houston, Texas), but then again, I don't venture out from my area much.

Which iPhone game should I get: Super Monkey Ball or Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D?

I've narrowed it down to those two, but can't decide which one to get.
I'm open to other suggestions if there's another really good game available.

The controls are pretty quirky and frustrating for Monkey Ball. Crash is a fun racer, and has some depth. There are some minor lag issues, but nothing to seriously detract from the overall experience.

How do I get past sector 2-5 of the space monkey game for the iPhone?
I'm just stuck there even if I kill the brass monkey and collect all the space junk. But I didn't complete it with all the juggling though.

When it says "Collect all the space junk to move on" it must mean ALL the space junk. Even though I had collected it all, I still couldn't move on until I kept the first two juggling balls while beating the brass monkey. I didn't juggle all the balls for the whole sector, just most of it.
To sum up: Hold onto all the juggling as long as you can and be sure to collect ALL junk until your meter is FULL.

Can you use the iPhone GPS in flight on an airplane to track your position?

If so, do airlines allow it?

Answer
No. Wireless devices are banned in flight so there is not chance they interfere with flight equipment. You will need to shut off your iphone and keep it off until you land.

It depends on your airline. Some allow it and some do not.
You can check on the web site of the airline to see if they have a prohibition. If they do not list it, you can use it. It will need to be turned off during take off and landing when all electronics are to be turned off.

Reception of the GPS signals depends on the quality of the receiver and if you have a window seat. The airplane body will block the signal so you will need to have it near a window. The newer receivers do a better job of getting a lock in difficult signal locations.

you can use your iPhone in flight, as it has a flight mode. as for the gps in a iphone im not sure because a iphone uses cell towers aswell as gps. if you have a hiking style gps you cna actually use them after the seat belt sign is switched off because they aren't technically a transmitting device... but check with your airline first
I don't think you can get a signal whilst on a plane. And you don't stand a big chance of being allowed to do it anyway! :-)
I'm unsure if a airline allows it or not, but its highly unlikely to get a signal in a plane anyway.

Unlocked Iphone 3G for USA T-mobile users. 3G service fee?

I'm planning to get an iphone 3G and planning to unlock it then use it for my T-mobile service in USA. I heard that for AT&T customers, in order for them to use 3G services, they will need to pay extra fee per month. i was just wondering if this is a same case for T-mobile service. because i think razor 2 is 3G and there is no additional fee of using it. let me know if you have any ideas about 3G service with T-mobile.

Best Answer
I'm not sure if T-Mobile has developed their 3G networked yet.
I heard they just won for the 2100 and 1700 3G spectrum and is starting to build towers for it.
Their 3G might not be on yet
If your T-Mobile plan includes unlimited data, then you have absolutely no problem. The only problem would be if you DIDN'T have unlimited data included, in which you would have to pay per kilobyte, which is ludicrously expensive.
Simply make sure that you have the unlimited plan from T-Mobile, and you should be set.
If you manage to do this, which i don't advise, then it should work. T-mobile does not have 3g service in the united states like At&t does. the only way you will be able to use it on 3g would be to switch to At&T

I'm pretty sure T-Mobile 3G's only out in New York City right now, we keep seeing announcements about it being rolled out "later this year as part of our Big 5 Goal" (blah blah etc) but that's pretty vague. It doesn't cost any more at this point, as far as I recall.
not possible. you cant walk out of the store with phone in hand without signing a 2year contract with AT&T and you wont be able to purchase the phone online either.

Can I bye an iphone 3g without buying the service?

My neighbor said that if you don't buy the 2 year contract the phone would cost $400

Best Answer

Hey, yes you can indeed, but your neighbor is just simply right because the other way the phone cost about 500 dollars the contract it would be around 100 or free depending on the contract and policy of the company your buying it from.

I'm afraid that you can't do that. When the first iPhone came out AT&T had a contract with Apple that the iPhone was supposed to push customers onto AT&T's service. Since the phone could be purchased without contract it was simple for people to jailbreak the phone and get the iPhone on any service which was breaking Apple and AT&T's contract.

This is why the phone is so much cheaper than the first.... you've got to buy it with a contract.

Yes. It will be around $400 unless you buy used... look into Ebay, Craigslist, and other such places. Also try google-ing it.

If you do find one that you would like, make sure it is Unlocked, and works with your provider.
Yes, but looks like ATT has put a hold on this for now..

I went to the store and they told me that ATT will release this without contract Iphone in some time....next month

Iphone 3g has no service EVER!?

I know that ATT has the 30 day trial to return the phone and service even though you signed a new contract. Well exactly after the 30 day period was up the phone started having NO SERVICE anywhere. I searched all over the internet seen 100's of post saying the same thing. Some tried to resolve this problem by turning off the 3g mode. I did that but it didn't work for me. ATT is jipping me $100 a month for NO SERVICE. I went to the store and was pretty pissed that they would give me no kind of refund and said that I should call apple. Well I did. (took me over 30 minutes to get to a tech) They said the closest apple store would be in san antonio 150 miles from where I live! I am not going that far just to return a sucky Iphone. THey gave me the option of waiting 3 more days to return the phone and have a new 1. The thing is I've almost been a month without service and there's nothing the can do . I don't understand. I want to end my contract but they said it would be a 175 ETF (early termination fee) I got so mad! Is there anybody out there who has canceled their contract and didn't have to pay this sh*t ETF fee. I'm soo fustrated. I left Sprint FOR this? Oh yeah I upgraded to 2.0.2 because they said it should fix the problem. It only made it worse. I have no signal all day, If i did it would drop once I touched the phone. I'm SOOO mad. again I need to know how to cancel without paying the 100. I've heard all the smart as* remarks I don't need to hear it. Please....

Best Answer :
It is going to be way, way less trouble for you to just talk to Apple's iPhone support folks on the phone and just arrange to have them mail you a box so you can mail in the phone for repair. It doesn't take long: they overnight the box to you, then it overnights to and from them. You'll only be out a few days. If you can borrow an unlocked or AT&T phone from someone, you can even put the SIM card from your iPhone into that while the iPhone is getting repaired and just use the one you're borrowing in the meantime. Seriously, this is your best option.

Unless, of course, the iPhone is damaged. In which case you have a much more difficult problem.

But, if you choose the more difficult path and still want to return it:

Did you buy it from AT&T or from Apple? If you bought it from Apple, contact their phone support and ask to speak to "customer relations". See if they can help you. The problem is, Apple has nothing to do with your cell phone plan, only with your phone. AT&T is the one in charge of your plan, and thus in charge of terminating it. CR might be able to pull some strings, but they may just as likely be unable to. You will probably have to talk to AT&T as a result, since they're the ones who will want to charge you the ETF. Just keep asking to speak to a manager until you get someone with the authority to override the ETF and make your best case.

As someone who dealt with iPhone support on the company side of things for both Apple and AT&T, I can tell you that it will help you tremendously to keep your cool when speaking to them. Be calm and rational. Do not yell or shout. Acting like a wild angry person will not help your case, they are much more likely to give you what you want if you're reasonable but firm.

3G iphone rumors and verizon?

i've been clicking around google and stuff and after about a good hour....I"m really confused.
there are rumors going around that apple has planned to design and launch a new iphone by late 2008. (I never say this right but..) this new iphone is apparently going to use.......3G stuff.
so if apple does launch this phone.....and other cell phone carriers support....3G technology (?)....that means you wouldn't have to buy a AT&T plan....and use the service of like sprint or verizon or something.....right?

No- AT&T is in the midst of ramping up their 3G network to compete with Verizon's and Sprint's. At this point in time, the coverage is very poor. Hypothetically, an iPhone Nano might be able to run on Verizon or Sprint, seeing as how, technically, it's not an iPhone per se. I doubt that would happen though.

Will the iPhone be available to other carriers, such as Verizon?

Will iPhone allow other carriers, other than AT&T, to use their phone with the respective carriers' service plans? Also, can we purchase the phone, but hook it up with another carrier?

no. there is no way to get the phone to work with another carrier. at least for the next 5 years. cingular has a contract with apple for the phone to be exclusively sold to cingular customers. and it wont work with another company, because apple will not unlock the phone so that it can be used with another carrier. the phone can be used prepaid, but that will require a deposit of an undisclosed amount.

according to the news article, AT&T has an exclusive 5-year contract w/ Apple. The cheapest plan is a 2 year contract at $59 a mo. for 450 minutes.

no they wont in the key note steve jobs apple ceo made it clear that at&t and apple have an exclusive contract

No, only At&T is planning on selling the iphone.also you will need to call verizon or your carrier and ask about buying an iphone from cingular and transferring to your carrier.some companys do and some dont.i am not sure about verizon because all there phones have the same generic menus.

Its only for AT&T apple has a contract with them for the next couple of years. You can never get the iPhone unlocked because its next to impossible.

Iphone Nextel GSM?

I have a i930 which is a IDEN/GSM nextel phone, it uses both networks, ive never been billed for roaming when using my phone on the GSM network such as when the walkie talkie is out of service. Is it possible that the iphone would work with the i930 sim card and not charge gsm roaming?
The iPhone will NOT work with a Nextel sim card. The iPhone is strictly a GSM phone. The GSM part of the i930 only works with a GSM sim card. It can't get onto a GSM network without a GSM sim card. The i930 and i920 are Nextel's world phones, which is why they have GSM capabilities. If you travel, you can get it unlocked to use a GSM sim card in it.

AT&T service and Apple iPhone?

I am already a customer of AT&T, but i want the apple iPhone when it comes out! since i'm already a customer of AT&T, will i be able to get the iPhone for way cheaper if i go with their plan for the iPhone? do i still have to pay like 800 bucks for the phone?

For that kind of money you might as well just buy a new computer and have a house phone. You might even be able to buy a laptop or a pda phone and an iPod.

I have not heard of any discounts for the phone. it might take some time since there are people who are willing to pay the current price. after a while theywill be offering rebates.

Prepaid phone?

okay.my mom has at&t and cingular for her phone service for her phone(iphone)..and its omost christmas and she's letting me pick out my own phone as long as it's a prepaid. And i was wondering if i could get a prepaid sidekick?and if it would matter if i went to like a different service and bought it-does that mean i would get that service--if prepaid phones had services You can get a prepaid sidekick, it is made for tmobile, so i would get tmobile prepaidfrom http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/Defau... :Sidekick® ratesGet unlimited e-mail, Web browsing, domestic instant messaging, and domestic text messaging for $1 per day, and spend $0.15 per minute for nationwide calls.

Can I use the iphone options without activating the phone?
I don't want the phone service. Just to download music and videos. Is this possible?

Nope, you have to have it activated to even get to the menu the only thing you can do without activation is make emergency phone calls. What you need is the Video iPod it does both of those things.
my best guess is that you dont have to buy the sevice for music and videos...but you can do that with a regular ipod so really, you're just wasting money
If you get the iPhone ask a AT&T Rep to unlock it for you. I am not sure if they charge you. Then you can use the iPod feature and use the internet at wifi areas. You can not use the phone, Text messaging, or gps navigation. Just internet at wifi area and ipod feature. Or you can just buy an unlocked one from ebay. Either way works. Or you can buy a iPod Video.Hope this helps.

Cell Phone Recommendations besides iPhone?

I'm looking to upgrade my phone, currently with AT&T and satisfied with my service. I do wish to have an iPhone but unfortunately the price is not right. The main reason is simply for the mobile internet browsing; the mp3 player and other stuff is not all that important, nor is the touch screen. Are there any other phones out there that have web browsing capabilities (youtube, all that jazz) like the iPhone?

try the nokia 6120 classic
I have a Blackbery, and I absolutly love it!! AT&T's website has alot of info about their phones, that's where I got mine.

Email send problem on Yahoo and iPhone?

I can't get my email to send on my iPhone. I have a yahoo account with an @sbcglobal.net. This comes with my AT&T dsl service. When I set up the email account on the iPhone using the Add Account/YMail option everything works well and I can get validated. I can also receive mail. However I CANNOT send mail. The iPhone goes through the normal motions of sending and I hear the sound of mail being sent. However the mail is not actually sent. I've checked this with numerous email addresses and it just doesn't work.I've seen answers here where the suggestion is to make sure your name is entered exactly as it is listed on my Yahoo account. I've done that too and it still doesn't work.I can get it to work if I activate the account via the Add Account/Other option and enter in the pop and smtp mail servers. However, doing it this way does not allow push email.Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I am having the same problem. I have had mine since it came out and the email worked fine (sending and receiving) until about two weeks ago. It started happening around the time that the latest update was installed. I went to the Apple Store and spoke to a "Genius" who was unable to help. He said it was a Yahoo! issue and that I needed to deal with them. Of course YAhoo! says it is an iPhone issue and I need to talk to them. Very frustrating! I have opened a regular Yahoo! account and am able to send mail now although it is inconvenient.I did notice that my email address on the iPhone now reads @sbcglobal.net where in the beginning it read @sbcglobal.net@yahoo.com. I can not get the @yahoo.com back on the end of the address. Maybe that has something to do with it. Sorry I couldn't help. I am just glad I am not the only one! Good luck!

I just saw this on another web site, but haven't tried it yet."I had the same problem with my sbcglobal.net email. I called apple and the tech guy told me to put smtp1.attglobal.net in the outgoing. Since then I have had no problems. He said that they specifically added this just for the iphone. Hopefully this helps!"

I do not know how to fix this either (sorry) I am having the same issue and wanted to know if you have figured it out. I went to the apple store spent about 12 hours on the phone with iphone help and am convinced this is not a problem with the phone since my email worked fine until ATT made some major changes to the web site arround July 31st. I have tried so many different combinations of settings my head is spinning. it has been 2 weeks now with no ability to send email from my iphone.

Should I get Iphone or wait for version 2.0?

I want an iphone but i don't want to waste my money. I want a phone that i'm going to keep for a year or two. I have att right now i like my service. But the only thing that bothers about the iphone is EDGE I can't believe that exists.. I have a 3g phone don't use the net as much but still would be nice to have a 3g phone. What do u think should i get an iphone or should i wait.. I know that i can get it for $100 less buying a referbished one. what u think should i get it or wait?

and when version 2 comes out your gonna be saying "should i wait for version 3?" so i say jus get it now. no one knows when apple could come out with the next iphone. cuz they still need to make modifications and current updates jus to fix the current one. but the current one is sooo awesome. i love mine. i use it all the time. im not bothered by EDGE a whole lot. its okay in my area. i really dont think apple will come out with a new one anytime soon cuz the current iphone has barley been on the market for 2 months now and they would never want to piss off their current iphone owners who spent alot of money on the old one, just to come out with a newer, better one. and if ur waiting for the price to go down. apple also has a tendency of never lowering the price of an item until its WAY into it's prime. so my point is. get it now. you wont regret it,.

If we were always waiting for the next version of something we would never get what we want. Just get it.

Get iPhone to work on a sprint service.?

I currently have Sprint as my cell phone service. Is there anyway I can buy an iPhone or sidekick and make it sprint?
you cannot you can only unlock phones for gsm carriers (at&t or t-mobile) but the cdma carriers(sprint and verizon) you cannot unlock phones because the electronic serial numbers on the phone is stuck to that carrier while with gsm you can switch out sim cards. now if you want a great phone for sprint get the lg rumor full qwerty keyboard, 1.3 meg camera, mp3, internet, pretty much just like the sidekick. or get the htc touch, interactive touchscreen, 2.0 meg camera, mp3, video, stereo bluetooth, everything the iphone can do except on a much faster sprint network. i wish i had the htc touch really bad. email me if you got any more ? I am not sure about the sidekick but I know with the I-Phone you need to have AT&T ... Apple has a contract with them and thats the only carrier that you are able to use it with.. normally you could swap sim cards but they made the I-Phone with an internal chip and you cannot swap it ! Def. think about going with AT&T though they have great service and rollover mins plus the I-Phone is awesome technology.

What cell phone providers will be carrying the new iphone by apple?

How to get unlocked iPhone to work on Canada phone services?

I am moving to Canada next month, and have not decided as yet what to do with my iPhone, which I absolutely love. I did some googling and found out that iPhone is still not officially available in Canada, and since I am going to a University (MUN) my iPhone is going to be a show-off! Will this phone work in Canada with a SIM card? Also, what are affordable mobile services for a foreign student in Canada who makes occasional long distance calls (to India)? Please advise, nuff respect.

The phone will work you just cant use it, lol. Its all on the carriers availeble in Canada.

sim cards work in Canada. You can ask Rogers and Fido they use SIM cards. Oh and lotsa canadians have the IPhone, sorry to break your bubble ;)
It should work in canada. but i can assure you there are a lot of people in canada who already have iphones. they get them from ebay. http://search.ebay.ca/iphone_Cell-Phones...look the the link. the americans are selling them to canadians, and vice versa.

unlock it if it's not already and you can use it with any carrier that uses a simOkay, it will work but i think your gonna have to buy a sim card from Canada , in order for it to work . and for your friend a good phone/cable/cell/internet service is , Rogers !

Get iphone to work on Alltel service!?

And it is w/o a service contract, can I use it with a phone service that is not Cingular? I have Alltel, and my dad won't let me switch my service b/c I'm on a contract with them, that won't end for another year. I'm either asking for an iPhone w/ Cingular or just the iPhone (and not use the phone part, and wait until i can switch my service) for Christmas. Or I might just get a Macbook Pro! Anyway, your input is wanted, THANKS! No, you can not...Cingular has sims cards for ipod phones...They will soon finish their exclusive contract with cingular, and they will become available to all carrier, just like the Razor did few years back.

just wait cuz there going to come out with NEW iphone nexy year!!

As long as you have a sim card and it is the same size of sim card that fits iPhones. I have one! Amazing phone go for it!And as for them coming out with new ones next year, so is every other phone company for the rest of our lives. Splurge when you want, nothings changing.
nope they have an exclusive with AT&T (formerly Cingular)-- May want to wait for the next generation, still too new and has some kinks I hear.

Look up iPhones on engadget.com. You'll find out all of the manical tactics apple has been forcing on poor unsuspecting iPhone buyers. You CAN use the iPhone on other GSM systems. I forget if Alltel has GSM, I know they have CDMA, like Sprint and Verizon. But some carriers may support both. I would hold off on any iPhone purchase. Wait until Cingular and Apple's unholy alliance is over before even thinking of it.

How to unlock a brand new IPhone?

How can unlock a brand new IPhone? To install a other phone service.I heard about breakjail something like that.

well i work for AT&T and you would have to call the iphone support to unlock it.

IPHONE Can some one tell me if the iphone will work in place of a gps unit if i don't want to get att service
I have to find tons of adresses a day and I was wordering if I should buy a gps device or an i phone. If i did get an iphone i would not get att service with it. Is the gps map on the iphone preloaded?

The phone I believe won't work unless it's activated. I am not entirely sure, but I think it's useless if you don't get att service. I believe you can't connect to the internet w/out service. No other wireless company carries the iphone, so you may have to get att if you want the phone. I would just by the GPS.
ok there are some vids on youtube that tell u how to unlock itALSO there is a gps on it but its pretty jumpoffi have it and i am very happy with itBUTif ur not gonna activateit then dont doit get a gps.

To connect laptop to the internet using an Iphone.

Laptop is running Vista...
If I plug my Iphone in could I use that to connect to the Internet in the absence of a wireless network?

Download the free Skype Program, and then on to your phone. All Skype calls are free anywhere in the World.

First of all, you will need to bluetooth, the two toghether. Then you will need to add an unlimited data plan for PDA;s to your service plan. I currently use my cell phone as a modem to connect my desktop to the internet. I also have AT&T (cingular), This is what I had to do to get mine connected. Skype will have no impact on your bill, as you will be sending data not making calls.

You can use your iPhone as a modem to get online using a program Tinyproxy. It allows you to surf the net on a MAC laptop at EDGE speeds which are not huge, but still acceptable. Some will wish it had 3G, but EDGE is ok for doing regular browsing on the internet. Though, this will cost you depending on your data charges with your wireless network provider.
What Dad D said. There is a specific dial string for access to the at&t data network that you need to enter into your bluetooth dial-up networking profile (or the similar USB modem connection) for the iPhone on the desktop/laptop. The connection is usually 115 kbps so not light speed but alright in a crunch. If you don't get the unlimited plan before you do this you will probably get hit with an enormous bill for access time so be aware of that.
